We call Taffey "our good luck gal", because she was lucky to get a good home with us and we have been lucky that she has given us so many beautiful puppies. She was a grown dog owned by a lady that no longer "wanted" her and sold her to a friend of ours. The friend who had bought her got into a situation where she couldn't care for her properly and GAVE her to us because she knew we loved dogs. She is a pure bred buff and white AKC registered cocker. She had never had pups when we took her. In her very first litter she had Dottie, our prized red and white parti girl. Taffey always gives us beautiful puppies in a large variety of colors. We love her pups so much we want to keep them all. She is also the mother of Juliana, our little prize chocolate sable and white girl. We also have two of her grandchildren, Dottie's girls, Emily and Lucy.. So we call Taffey our good luck charm. She has brought us a lot of luck and it keeps coming.
There is a sad ending to this story. When Taffey was seven years old, just one day after her birthday, she died giving birth to her last litter. She left us with five precious little duplicates of her. Luckily Fanny had just had two pups and she adopted Taffey's pups and raised them. She was our foundation stock. Nearly all of our most beautiful girls and boys are related to Taffey in some way. She is sadly missed and always remembered and loved. She died in service to us. |
